This COVID-19 home swab test kit uses the PCR viral infection test & is the same ‘throat and nose swab test’ used as the gold standard for diagnostics in the community or people who need hospital treatment. This tests helps confirm if you are currently INFECTED. It is also used to see if you are infectious and can transmit Coronavirus to others.
What will the COVID-19 PCR Test result show me?
The result will be sent to one of our medical directors or senior clinicians. The test will either be POSITIVE or NEGATIVE.
What does a POSITIVE COVID-19 PCR Test result mean?
It is extremely hard for such a test to give a false positive result. So, a positive result means that you are almost definitely infected with Coronavirus.
If you are feeling sick then you may need to be closely monitored over a number of days. If you are not feeling unwell but have tested positive you are among the majority of people who are infected with Coronavirus and can transmit this to others through close contact or through touching shared surfaces.
What does a NEGATIVE COVID-19 PCR Test result mean?
A NEGATIVE PCR test is not a guaranteed result. It can be up to 95% sensitive meaning that only 5% of the time will such a test miss an infection, providing the sample was taken correctly, and the Lab technicians were using the very best technique.
How do I get the COVID-19 PCR test, do it at home and send it back?
Once registered for the test you will be sent a package from us by Royal Mail next day Special Delivery. You will use our Certific web or phone app servicer to help you perform the swab sample collection correctly. If you are self isolating at home due to symptoms the process is exactly the same. You can either send the package back by courier or taxi or post the pre-stamped, self addressed envelope to our lab. We will provide you all the packaging you need to send the swab back to one of our authorised laboratories.
How long does it take for the COVID-19 PCR test result?
Our labs guarantee us same day delivery of results if the samples arrives there before 1pm. Otherwise it is the next working day. As soon as we receive the lab data our physicians will sign off both your certified Certific tele-consult recording and the test result.
How will I get the COVID-19 PCR result & what happens next?
You will receive your certifed report as a PDF within your via Certific application. You can email this to yourself for necessary purposes and records as required.
PLEASE NOTE: You can do the swab yourself (if you are aged 12 or over) or someone can do it for you. Parents or guardians have to swab test children aged 11 or under.
